That’s a great question. Sometimes I handled it wall and sometimes not so well. I’ve had bouts of depression and I’ve learned that I need to make time for myself to relax so I meditate, I do yoga, I walk the dogs and go to the gym. I also talk to other people if I’m feeling stressed or overwhelmed by a situation.

That’s a very good question. To work in healthcare I think it’s important to be aware of your own self-care battery and when you are starting to feel depleted. I think it’s important to use supervision and ensure you have good support from your colleagues. I also think it’s important to be able to switch off and leave work at work so that your home life is protected. I look after my own mental health by running, meditating, journaling and getting lots of sleep. I’m not so good at eating healthy!!

This a question very close to my heart . I struggled a little with my mental health while I was training to become a GP , yet my husband and my son helped me stay positive. Once I had cleared all my exams I was in a much positive frame of mind . I received alot of support from my generous trainer throughout my training. I will always be grateful to her. My TPDs were amazing also .
